Data Laws / Identity

- The following was begun on 4/13/2011 -
Gov't : Internet : Identities and Information. Passwords. Identities. Life. Accounts. Laws. Data. Persons. Death.

^ p.s. That's all I have (actually, "am going to") write, right now, because this topic is one about which I think allllll the time. I have this whole idea that the Government actually should regulate The Internet in a number of ways, pertaining to the safety of individuals, our identities, our creations, our data, and so on and so forth. For instance, think about Facebook. What happens when you die? Ummm... Scary. Mark Zuck owns (all) my stuff?

Additionally, this brings me to another point of these matters, which is the idea that an individual human being in this day and age... actually can live forever. Right? Strange concept. Think about it though. For instance, DJ AM // Adam G, one of my idols, passed away. However, it is, and was, consequently at (uh) Twitter's, and Facebook's, discretion to remove or eliminate his personal pages on their services, along with all the data contained in there. How does this work? What if they didn't want to, respond, feel like, or whatever, taking down his page? He lives forever. His data is up there forever. @DJ_AM is and always will be up? All of his thoughts and posts and information is now at Twitter's discretion? "Biz" Stone and co? What? @GregGiraldo is still up. Also, I had (have?) a follower, on Twitter, @JamesH(?)Williams Twitter who just died. Account is still up. What? Scary. Government, please help. (Make laws, e.g. holding Internet companies accountable.) It's totally possible.

ALSO, (while I'm at it, I'll continue this topic) IF the Government did enact laws which protected my data, safety, passwords, held the owner of each domain accountable for people's information, etc. IF the Internet weren't, like, some crazy disorganized "wild west" / "free-for-all" type of place.... I could imagine signing into websites, storing stuff, files, having access to programs, applications, to help me be productive, save computer space, what are now websites being able to be utilized as practical helpful applications... and so on. And I would feel (i.e. be) safe. And not get f'ed with.

For instance, just occurred to me, haven't you heard about the recent Google massive file loss and deletion of Gmail accounts, or whatever it was that just happened? Yeah, that's not a laughing matter. That's serious stuff! Come on. What the f.

update: To a Congressman or woman,
I believe that the Internet should be more well-regulated, to some extent, that policies must be designed and implemented. The introduction of websites and "blogging" and social media has introduced many new concepts and realities to our lives.
I have thought about these concepts at great length and I have come up with a number of ideas that I believe should be taken into consideration.
Data Laws e.g. iPads, e-mail, etc. protection of identities. Life and death.
New "Huge Crimes" "Big crime" = hacking, data theft or fraud. Idea: You can have a screenname and a display name, fine, but it must be underneath linked to an actual identity. State run? (= education = jobs = immigration = visas = schools = many birds with one stone)
For instance, Twitter is so big now / such a big part of our lives now. Each of us understands. Actually, even around the world. Wow! Wtf. [sidenote: How come they cannot capitalize on this? sidesidenote: Stupid Old People] e.g. "Hashtags" # @ etc.
It is weird, and unnervingly true, that we live forever, now. How does it not bother you that
The Occupy movement only possible bc of Twitter. They speak via Twitter. Twitter generation, "Generation I" ("I" am so cool... / in a narcissistic way, and for the "I"nternet) (I posted about this idea of "Generation I" on December 17, 2010)
Transparent "Standards" : We need to know.
This would give / present Google (with) many new opportunities. PRIVATE data storage and organization. (sidenote Idea: "Google Journal")
Public/Private (sidenote: I have wanted to acquire PublicPrivate.com)
Everything you have written or published is your property. (based on ownership of where it was published)
"Sustainability"
Idea: Everyone should be forced to have a Klout acc't.
New Tweet law (they r reading all ur Twits) makes it even more urgent!
We live forever now? Scary. Weird. I don't want to live forever.
